The ULTRACOM II open face, sport aviation helmet is designed for use in open cockpit aircraft, ultralights, microlights and gyro-copters (top right in photo above).

This is the helmet system we use in our own flying school and it is THE ONLY system that can cope with high noise open cockpit aircraft, really a superb communication system! This system is not cheap however as the saying goes you pay for what you get.

The updated ULTRACOM II comes with full aviation electronics, these helmets have noise reduction headset muffs and a military type mike, with pilot controlled air vents for summer use, and a flip up visor option. Standard colour, white - other colours to order. Military helmets with the same features would cost about $7000 for a pair ...

Each ULTRACOM helmet or headset package includes two helmets and one intercom box that has a radio connect capability and individual pilot and passenger volume controls.

The standard colour is white however blue, red & black coloured helmets are available. One medium size and one large would cover 90% of helmet head sizes. The military style visor protector is no longer available. As no recognised Australian standard exists for powered sport aviation aircraft these helmets are not certified. Compared to not wearing a helmet at all (the normal situation) these helmets offer good noise cancelling to protect your ears, will protect your head in turbulent air situations and will enable you to talk to your passengers and use a radio without yelling. Upgrade to the deluxe intercom, both 12 volt and internal battery powered, capable or having up to two (2) radio inputs (VHF & UHF) PLUS music. (Purchased individually $495)

PANEL MOUNT INTERCOM $199 extra
For a conventional flat instrument panel, ON PANEL - plug in point for one headset, volume control, music input control, radio 1 and radio 2 conrol, plus a seperate REMOTE MOUNT UNIT ie a remote "plug-in" mini box for a second headset (passenger) with a second volume control. (Purchased individually $595 )

PATCH CABLES for your radio, with helmet, from $139.00 ea extra
Specify which type of intercom box ie Standard or deluxe and which type of radio ie ICOM A22 VHF or ICOM 40S UHF, each cable is different as each or the radios have a different impendence match! Ordered individually from $149 each.

VISOR $39 ea extra
Snap on, flip up, clear or tinted visor, covers eyes nose and mike (to reduce noise). Clear, clean vision without the wind and bugs ! Tinted visor is a "light tint" so ideal for summer flying without reducing visability. Saftey note : Always attach a visor with a safety cord, if it comes off in flight it will not end up in the propeller !

This superb, full face LAZER carbon fibre composite helmet is designed for HANG GLIDING and PARAGLIGING use. The LAZER is very light, offers excellent side vision, comes in carbon black with just a hint of blue as a trim colour - it looks great!

Sizes available: Medium 58cm, Large 60cm, X-Large 62 cm. These helmets are European (small) fit so normally order the next size up for a comfortable fit.

OPTION 2 : Finger switch, "push to talk" that links a radio to the helmet communications lead, features a micro switch that can be "velcro" attached to yor glove, finger, or a part of the aircraft, push to transmit, wire runs up your arm inside your flight jacket, for ICOM UHF handheld radios only. Lighterweight construction compared to the switchbox.
